This is a piece I created for design. The assignment was to create a contrast, and I chose 'whole' and 'broken' for this purpose. This can be taken literally, for example, something that has broken and something that is still whole (such as the shell of an egg), or in a figurative sense, representing mental brokenness where the outer appearance still seems intact.
Whole and broken
With this drawing, I attempted to depict both the literal and figurative meanings. The explosion in the head is a literal representation of the transition from something whole to something broken. The eyes, on the other hand, symbolize the figurative aspect, where you feel observed and come to the realization that internally, you are breaking down like metal. I made this with procreate.
This is an animation I made for the theme Whole and Broken.
I wanted to showcase a mental health problem that is literally eating you away.
